Dr Vicary was a member of the South Australia India Advisory Council established by the
South Australian Premier in March 2013, and which constructed the South Australia India
Engagement Strategy. He has been involved in relationships with India for over 22 years,
beginning with student mobility programs at the University of South Australia and extending
into research and institutional partnerships, and SA Government Business Missions to India.
Previous Board positions held by Dr Vicary have included governance bodies in universities
and secondary education.
Dr Vicary’s research publications include In the Interests of Education; History of Education
in South Australia (Allen & Unwin, Sydney 1997); and book chapters and articles in the field
of contractualism and the human services, and global citizenship. He is currently engaged in
sociological research on intercultural engagement between Aboriginal and Indian people.
