Dipen Rughani, a leading authority on trade and investment within the Australia-India corridor, founded Newland Global Group, a boutique consultancy which works with reputable organisations in the public and private sector.
As an expert in the Australia India commercial space Dipen receives regular invitations from India to present at industry forums by organisations such as the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) and in Australia he regularly presents at India focused business events.
Dipen works closely with the Government of NSW, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Austrade and he is in regular consultation with the Indian Consul General in Sydney and the Indian High Commissioner in Canberra. Although based in Sydney Dipen travels extensively to India which enables him to keep in regular contact with his far-reaching and influential network in both the private and public sector at the highest level.
Between 2009 and mid 2012 Dipen was President of the Australia India Business Council NSW chapter, in June 2012 Dipen was elected by the national membership as the National Chairman of the Australia India Business Council (AIBC).
Dipen hosted the Joint Business Council Meeting between AIBC and FICCI in May 2011. Dipen has had substantial input into AIBC’s submission to the Free Trade Agreement with India. Dipen played a key role in establishing the Australia-India Youth Dialogue, a forum for young leaders in both countries to connect and develop sustainable relationships in business, culture and society and sat on its advisory board in 2011.
Prior to his involvement in the Australia-India trade space, Dipen was involved in the Australian property development industry for over 12 years. He continues to consult on a part time basis to property developers, consultants and service providers in all aspects of real estate development. He is the founder of an industry specific portal www.forsite.com.au, which is the number one property development website in Australia.
In his earlier career, Dipen held numerous highly successful senior executive roles in the software (Geac Computers), conferencing (Global Management Strategies), automotive (Hyundai) and logistics and supply chain (Mayne Nickless) industries.
Outside of his voluntary role with AIBC, Dipen is also President of Anoopam Mission Australia, a charity which supports handicapped children, educating underprivileged women and provides medical assistance to over 130 villages in India.
