New Consular appointments in India

On 20 January 2024, the Australia Foreign Minister, Senator the Honorable Penny Wong, announced the following diplomatic appointments for India

Mr Paul Murphy as Australia’s new Consul-General in Mumbai, India.

Mr Murphy is a career officer with DFAT and was most recently Director, Free Trade Agreement Sectoral Services Section. He has previously served overseas as Consul-General in Lae and at the Australian High Commission in Papua New Guinea.

The Consulate-General in Mumbai includes the western states of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa.

Mr Hugh Boylan as Australia’s new Consul-General in Kolkata

Boylan is a career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and was most recently Counsellor (Economic) at the Australian High Commission in New Delhi. He has also previously served overseas in Pakistan.

The Consulate-General in Kolkata includes the states of West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Sikkim and Tripura.

Ms Silai Zaki is Australia’s new Consul-General in Chennai.

Ms Zaki is a career officer with DFAT and was most recently acting Assistant Secretary, Defence Strategic Policy Branch. She has previously served overseas in Spain and as an adviser to former Foreign Minister Payne.

The Consulate-General in Chennai includes the states of Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and the Union Territories of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep and Puducherry.
