Australia India Business Council Limited (AIBC) National Chair, Jim Varghese AM and National Vice-Chair, Sanushka Seomangal re-elected unopposed.
“I am pleased that Sanushka and I were re-elected unopposed as AIBC National Chair and National Vice Chair. This is a great vote of confidence in our ongoing performance, as we continue to build a stronger platform of driving a sharper business focus for all activities of the Australia India Business Council.” – Jim Varghese AM
All AIBC eligible members were invited to send in nominations for the positions of both AIBC National Chair and AIBC National Vice-Chair by 14 August 2020. The Independent Returning Officer, Mr Greg Mitchell, of Vero Voting, declared there was no requirement for online elections as only one nomination was received for each of these positions.
Mr Varghese said “AIBC acknowledged the difficult times faced by all due to the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions.” He said “AIBC would continue to work towards building stronger platforms in facilitating and nurturing growth opportunities for business and investment between Australia and India.”
He said “AIBC was working to assist in the fast track of major opportunities, such as the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP), which will add new dimensions to the Australia-India bilateral relationship.”
He said “the launch of the AIBC Digital Exchange Forum on 17 July provided AIBC members with a highly innovative and effective business networking tool. The Digital Forum enables AIBC members to reach out online to other members across Australia. This is particularly useful during the challenging times experienced by business during the COVID-19 pandemic, with the new normal being digital meetings and interactions globally.”
AIBC continued to collaborate with partners in Australia and India to provide members with access to high-level online webinars, forums and panel discussions featuring expert industry and government speakers.
Mr Varghese said he, and Ms Seomangal, looked forward to working with AIBC Industry Chapters and members to increase and enhance the business to business relationship between states and territories of Australia and the states of India.
