Mar 24: National e-Conference on Boosting Exports: The Role of Ports & Logistics
March 24, 2021 @ 2:00 pm - 6:15 pm
Dear Industry Member,
The COVID-19 pandemic and its spread has brought about a major impact on the economies across the globe including India. The companies dependent on foreign trade are especially affected with critical imports and exports of finished products being severely impacted. India’s share in world merchandise trade is yet to cross the 2% mark. It is, therefore, crucial to focus on reform measures aimed at boosting exports for driving growth as well as increasing share in international trade flows and for this Ports and Logistics have a critical role to play.
The government of India has undertaken several transformational initiatives in the realm of maritime development such as introducing the visionary Sagarmala project and developing efficiency of Ports to enhance overall competitiveness. While these measures have strengthened the nation’s position in the GVCs, there is a need to improve port operational efficiency through adoption of new technologies for international trade to prosper. Improvement in turnaround time at Ports, better hinterland connectivity and multi-modal logistics are critical for providing an impetus to exports.
Against this backdrop, CII is organising the National e-Conference on Boosting Exports: The Role of Ports & Logistics on 24th March, 2021 from 1400 hrs to 1815 hrs to deliberate on the key role of Ports and Logistics in boosting exports. The conference would also discuss on the impact and progress of the flagship government logistics programmes and emerging opportunities.
Shri Mansukh Mandaviya, Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Government of India has kindly agreed to be the Chief Guest.
