Oct 17 – Nov 15: Invite – Virtual Trade and Exhibition Platform – World Trade Center Mumbai
October 17 @ 8:00 am - November 15 @ 5:00 pm
Greetings from Consulate General of India, Melbourne.
I would like to share with you, that World Trade Center Mumbai has developed a ‘Virtual Trade and Exhibition Platform’ – worldtradeexpo.org to promote MSMEs, Start-Ups and Women Entrepreneurs in Textiles, Fabrics & Yarns, Engineering, Auto Parts & Accessories, Plastics, Chemicals, Agri & Agri Processing, Handlooms & Handicrafts, Electronics, Electricals and Healthcare. This online platform will offer greater returns on investment with low cost of participation, enhanced online presence with high reach and engagement with the targeted visitors and buyers. This substantially outperforms traditional physical exhibition format.
World Trade Center Mumbai in association with IAMKHADI Foundation is pleased to present the first virtual exhibition under the worldtradeexpo.org platform titled – ‘ Festival of Handloom’ to showcase Khadi and Handloom. This virtual exhibition is scheduled to go live from October 17 – November 15, 2020 as it coincides with 150 years of Mahatma Gandhi. This virtual exhibition also proposes to identify buyers from across the world. We look forward to getting support of various trade promotion organisations and 330 World Trade Centers based in 90 countries.
This virtual exhibition is provides an excellent opportunity for artists, weavers, micro-entrepreneurs including women SHGs, clusters and village industries to showcase khadi and handloom products such as sarees, fabric material, shawls, stoles, dress material, mats, rugs, carpets along with home furnishing and other accessories from several states in India and overseas. More than 100 exhibitors are expected to showcase their products. They will be able to showcase, market and sell their products. Furthermore, exhibitors can also participate in matchmaking B2B and B2C meetings, export oriented training programmes and workshops. Over 100 global buyers are expected to join this month-long festival.
Hand loom is an age old and timeless art of creating a beautiful fabric that represent diverse cultural and historical lineage of a particular geography. Each fabric is a reflection of customs, mythology and artist’s emotions. From simple plain fabrics, tribal motifs, geometric designs, colourful dyes to an exhaustive art, each piece is unique and unparallel in itself. The handloom textile products with their meaningful designs and patterns remain unmatched in their distinctive blend of timelessness and innovativeness. It is the beautiful celebration of colours & weaves and the splendour of art & techniques.
Hand loom sector employs millions of people. The pandemic has severely paralysed their ability to produce, market, exhibit and sell handloom products. The resultant crash in business has serious consequences on the survival of these artists, weavers and their ancient techniques. The Handloom Festival aims at helping artisans and weavers, showcase their handcrafted products and support ‘vocal for local’. This online platform will promote khadi and handloom products to the global audience by redefining tradition and style.
I would appreciate if you could kindly disseminate this info among your members, trade bodies, associations, and social groups making use of this opportunity and explore on Virtual Trade and Exhibition Platform starting October 17 – November 15, 2020 .
