Aug 12: Privatisation of passenger train operation in India

In a first of its kind initiative, Ministry of Railways, Government of India has decided to open up its passenger train operations for private sector participation.
The project spans over 109 routes across the country with introduction of 151 trains and expected to bring a paradigm shift in passenger travel experience from cutting edge modern technology enabled shorter journey times to the best-in-class service standards.
