Sep 5: STIP 2020 Consultations with Indian Diaspora
September 5, 2020 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
India has initiated the process of formulating India’s new National Science, Technology, and Innovation Policy (STIP 2020). STIP 2020 at a crucial juncture when India and the world are grappling with the crisis of COVID-19 pandemic.
Indian diaspora is one of the largest highly skilled ethnic communities around the world, contributing significantly to the development of the major economies. Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) has a major contribution to this. Our Hon’ble Prime Minister made a clarion call for an Atmanirbhar Bharat or a self-reliant India. We believe that a strong engagement with the Indian Diaspora can greatly help in building a self-reliant India.
Since the Indian diaspora is an important stakeholder in the STI policy process, it proposed to organise a high-level consultation with Indian Diaspora on Saturday, the 5th September, 2020 (Event link: https://youtu.be/xRPv-D4PyHU) which will be chaired by Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Hon’ble Union Minister of Science & Technology, Earth Sciences and Health & Family Welfare. Prof K.VijayRaghavan, Principal Scientific Adviser to Government of India; Prof Ashutosh Sharma, Secretary, Department of Science & Technology; Dr. Renu Swarup, Secretary, Department of Biotechnology and Dr. Shekhar C Mande, Secretary, Department of Scientific & Industrial Research will share the panel moderated by Dr. Vijay Chauthaiwale, Healthcare-biotech Consultant.
I am pleased to invite your esteemed organization to join this important consultation. We wish to seek wider participation of Indian diaspora to make diaspora voices to be heard by policy pundits of STI.
STIP 2020 secretariat looks forward to your active participation and contribution to the national upcoming STI Policy.
