The Ministry of Railways (MoR) has recently decided to open up its passenger train operations for private sector participation. A first of its kind initiative by the Indian Railways, it will usher in a new era of rail travel in the country. Spanning over 109 routes across the country with the introduction of 151 trains, the project is expected to bring in a paradigm shift in passenger travel experience from cutting-edge, modern technology rolling stock facilitating shorter journey times to the best-in-class service standards. The project is expected to bring in private investment of about 4 Billion US Dollars.
The Request for Qualifications(RfQs) for the project has been issued. And the same is available for download at https://eprocure.gov.in/eprocure/app , captioned as “Passenger Train Operations”. The Application Due Date under the RfQs is 08 September 2020. A pre-application conference to address queries of prospective bidders is scheduled for 12 August 2020 (through Video Conferencing).
