The Australia India Business Council (AIBC), Chair, Deepak-Raj Gupta OAM, had a series of high-level engagements that reaffirm our shared commitment to strengthening the Australia–India relationship at the highest levels of government.
It was particularly inspiring to engage with Victorias Premier Hon Jacinta Allan, whose candid and thoughtful discussion with young people reflected genuine leadership. Listening closely to their concerns and committing to meaningful action and reform.
These engagements were complemented by a highly productive meeting with Lord Mayor Nick Reece and the Deputy Lord Mayor Rosena Campbell. Their strong support for Melbourne’s Indian diaspora, along with a clear enthusiasm for expanding Australia–India trade and investment, was truly encouraging.
A key highlight was the discussion around the vision of a vibrant cultural and commercial hub in Melbourne’s CBD. An initiative that would enhance the city’s global identity and further strengthen bilateral ties.
We also welcomed the Lord Mayor’s reflections on his recent delegation to India and are pleased to confirm his agreement to partner with AIBC on future delegations. An important step forward in building a stronger, more prosperous Australia–India partnership.
