The Australia India Business Council (AIBC) is the leading business council promoting trade and investment between Australia and India. Established in 1986, AIBC has chapters across six Australian state capitals and a presence in India.
Our Role
AIBC supports the Australia–India business corridor through policy engagement and advocacy. The Council raises awareness of trade and investment opportunities and facilitates business-to-business connections to drive commercial outcomes.

AIBC is a membership-driven, not-for-profit organisation representing leading organisations across business, industry and academia. It works closely with Federal and State governments in Australia and India, as well as industry bodies, diaspora, academia, and the community and media. AIBC also engages with partners and stakeholders in India to support trade, investment and bilateral business collaboration.

1986
Established by Prime Ministers Bob Hawke and Rajiv Gandhi to strengthen Australia–India trade and investment relations.
1990
Expanded nationally with chapters across all states, strengthening AIBC’s business network.
1995
Launched its formal membership platform, bringing together leading businesses, professionals and industry leaders.
2000
Strengthened its presence in India to support cross-border trade, investment and strategic partnerships.
2005
Introduced industry chapters to deepen collaboration across trade, education, technology, resources and professional services.
