AIBC Delegation Advances Strategic Engagements in Mumbai Following Chennai B2B Mission

Following a highly productive and engaging B2B exchange in Chennai, the AustAIBC Delegation proceeded to the second leg of its mission in India’s financial capital, Mumbai. Our engagements commenced with the Future Economic Corporation Council, in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, and the Government of Maharashtra, in the lead-up to the Global Economic Corporation Summit 2026.

During the summit, the delegation had the privilege of hearing insights from The Hon Dr. S. Jaishankar, External Affairs Minister; The Hon Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Devendra Fadnavis and The Hon Piyush Goyal. In his address, Dr. Jaishankar reflected that the global order is changing “before our very eyes”, describing a potential “twilight zone” where elements of the old system coexist with an emerging one — a world where economics is increasingly shaped by politics, security considerations, and the accelerating impact of AI. AIBC representatives actively contributed to two panel discussions, sharing the stage with the US-UK Business Council and the UAE Business Council. These discussions focused on the progress of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and India’s evolving role as a key contributor to the global economy.

A significant milestone was achieved with the signing of a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the World Trade Centre. We extend our sincere gratitude to Dr. Vijay Kalantri, Chairman and CEO Priya Pansare, and their esteemed team for their exceptional hospitality. The delegation gained valuable insights into the Centre’s operations and explored opportunities for partnership with the Australian Business Council, specifically aimed at strengthening bilateral trade relations between Australia and India.

The day concluded with a gracious reception hosted by the Consul General of Mumbai, Deputy Council General Christian Jack and Todd Miller, attended by distinguished members of the local business community. The event facilitated relaxed yet meaningful dialogue, bringing the delegation’s tour of India to a close on a high note, enriched with promising prospects and lasting memories.
