AIBC Sports Chapter convenes Football Roundtable in Victoria

Our #Sports Industry Chapter convened a high level football roundtable in Melbourne on potential collaboration opportunities for Australia with India.

The roundtable was captained by Molina Asthana, AIBC’s National Lead for Sport, Art and Culture and co-incided with the visit of Rupak Saha, assistant general secretary of the East Bengal Football Club, India’s oldest football Club. East Bengal FC is also a part of the Indian Super League and is keen to explore collaboration opportunities with ‘A’ League Clubs in Australia.

Key stakeholders who joined the discussions include Football Victoria, Melbourne Victory Football Club, Western United Football Club, Bruce Media, Victorian Government, Consulate General of India in Melbourne and Global Victoria.

Special thanks to law firm Moray & Agnew for hosting the roundtable at their offices.

The roundtable focused on kickstarting friendly matches, player exchanges, more diaspora participation and increasing support from businesses to football!

Says Molina Asthana, “There was great interest from all participants in this first of its kind initiative in football between Australia and India. We are committed to establishing a working group to facilitate tangible outcomes in this direction.”
