Senator Don Farrell delivers AIBC’s Australia India Address 2023

AIBC hosted a spectacular Australia India Annual Address & Gala Dinner in Sydney on 21 November 2023 at the iconic CommBank Stadium in Parramatta with The Hon Don Farrell, Minister for Trade and Tourism delivering the keynote. 

Senator Farrell put his weight behind the Australia-India relationship and emphasized the architecture put in place by the government to strengthen this partnership.

The audience of 250+ people was spellbound by the power-packed agenda with Irfan Malik (MAICD), AIBC President NSW and National Associate Chair, setting the tone for the evening with a welcome address highlighting a great year of highly impactful business and industry engagement and a call out for a “Team Australia” inclusive approach to take our business and trade outcomes to the next level. 

Manpreet Vohra, India’s High Commissioner to Australia, delivered the Guest of Honour address showcasing key facts on bilateral trade achievements this year with highest level government-led engagements across both the nations.

The special event also included a very lively and insightful panel discussion moderated by AIBC National Chair Jodi McKay. The panellists included Andrew Charlton, MP for Parramatta, Tim Thomas, CEO, Centre for Australia-India Relations (CAIR) and Arnab Pal State General Manager – Business Banking, Commonwealth Bank bank. Andrew highlighted the role of the diaspora in the relationship, while Tim spoke of the work now before CAIR. 

Another highlight of the evening was the launch of AIBC’s First Nations Roadmap 2024-26. The roadmap is a culmination of consultations held over a year with over 150 stakeholders and presents AIBC’s priorities and actions for 2024-26.
