Australian Capital Territory
The Australian Capital Territory (ACT) holds a unique position in the Australia–India relationship as the centre of federal government, policy-making and diplomacy. Canberra is home to key Australian Government departments, national institutions, foreign missions and policy think tanks, making the ACT a strategic hub for bilateral engagement.
The AIBC ACT Chapter focuses on strengthening connections between government, industry, academia and policy stakeholders to support Australia–India cooperation. The Chapter plays a vital role in facilitating dialogue on trade policy, economic strategy, education, defence, technology and innovation.
Key sectors of engagement include public policy and governance, defence and national security, education and research, technology, space, cybersecurity and public sector innovation. ACT-based universities and research institutions maintain strong academic and research ties with India, contributing to long-term collaboration and talent exchange.
The Chapter works closely with AIBC National, the High Commission of India, Australian Government agencies, embassies, think tanks and industry partners to convene briefings, roundtables and strategic discussions that support informed decision-making and collaboration.
Through its policy-focused engagement and national perspective, the AIBC ACT Chapter serves as a vital bridge between government and business, supporting a deeper, more coordinated Australia–India partnership.
